2023 Living Monument Gathering

We are currently working on a community-driven, site-responsive, interactive “Living Monument.”

The “Living Monument” idea was inspired by the National African American Reparations Commission’s (NAARC) directive to preserve Black sacred sites and monuments.

As dancers, we ask: How can Black
bodies be understood as sacred sites?
How can Black dancing bodies become living monuments?

We envision a community gathering that will honor the site as a sacred space, amplify the histories of the people whose exploited labor built Atlanta, and celebrate the collective work we are doing to
move our communities forward to a more liberated future.

We begin with a series of community dance gatherings - please join us!
All are welcome, no previous experience necessary.
Participants receive a $50 honorarium.

Registration is required, space is limited: https://forms.gle/yTC96ZVMGuyxfNCg7
